Conscious Parenting – Present Practical Parenting Group
It’s time … Parent with more awareness and build a deeper nurturing connection in your family.
Parenting is not a skill that just arrives with your child being born. Just like all worthwhile and effective skills, we need to invest time, openness and courage whereby the rewards are priceless. Conscious Parenting describes a style of parenting which focuses on the parents and exploring how mindfulness can steer parenting choices. You can explore your parenting style and address specific barriers in your family relationships that are a current conflict in the home. Conscious Parenting themes can be explored in individual sessions or in group program settings.
Over a 6 week period explore this practical parenting program focusing on enhancing your skills in a variety of areas. You will explore your parenting style and address specific barriers in your family relationship that are a current conflict in the home
The reality of what it means to have children and to have the responsibility of bringing them up to become adults.
When you’re sleep deprived, stressed, and juggling parenthood and work, challenging behaviour can feel even harder to handle. You can react and respond from a place of frustration that doesn’t foster positive relationships.
But when we break down what our children need from us – consistency, clear meaningful consequences, authentic attention and positive discipline, then we can enter a position of empowerment and change, both for ourselves, and our children.
Key elements of Conscious Parenting are:
Parenting is a relationship and not a one-way transmission process. Children are their own unique people who can teach a parent.
◙ Conscious parenting is about letting go of a parent’s ego, desires, and attachments.
◙ Instead of forcing behaviours on children, parents could focus on their own language, their expectations, and their self-regulation.
◙ Instead of reacting to issues with consequences, parents could establish boundaries ahead of time and use positive reinforcement.
◙ Instead of trying to fix a momentary problem (such as a temper tantrum), it is important to look at the process. What led up to this event and what does it mean in a bigger picture?
◙ Parenting is not just about making a child happy. Children can grow and develop through struggles. A parent’s ego and needs should not prevent a child’s growth and development.
◙ Acceptance requires being present and engaging with whatever situations present themselves.
